Am I entitled to sick pay or bereavement leave?

My grandfather whom I loved dearly passed away early hours this morning, due to a short battle with cancer. I am exstremely upset and couldn't cope going into work. I informed my employers of this upon finding out he had cancer and cut my hours back to spend the short amount of time left with him. I informed them once again today that he had passed and they told me that i wouldn't be getting payed for having this time off. Is this right or am I entitled to sick pay or bereavement leave?
