What impact do shared traumatic experiences between social worker and service user have on practice?

As a current practicing social worker, I will tell you that it is considered unprofessional to be experiencing a personal trauma and practicing (at the same time) with clients that are also experiencing the same trauma. The social worker should excuse themself from the case and not accept any clients with the same issue until they have addressed the situation in their own personal life. This is addressed in the ``Social Worker Code of Ethics`` which if you google, you will find.
