What it means to dream about protecting a guy i like.?

Last night I had a dream where I was protecting this guy friend billie I like. In the first half of the dream we ended up running from the cops and when a cop tried to shoot him I went in front of my friend and started yelling to not hurt him. Then in the second half his sort of boy friend mike was there yelling and screaming at him about how I like him and How he was angry and that we were all friends and that I know that billie is his property. He then got so pissed he went grab him and hit him. I freaked out and went in front of the billie and told mike he could do whatever he wanted as long as he didn't hurt billie. Even if it meant hurting me. Im just curious to what this dream meant. Billie told me he knows I like him and he said mike knows to.
